    A Slice Of Heaven

Where do you call home? Everyone answers this question at some point in life.  Childhood is when our kids first learn where to call “home.” They learn that there is a difference within the walls of their home and the world that exists when they step outside. They realize the difference in how they are treated and the love that engulfs them when they walk through the door to their home. They recognize the interest that is taken in their walk as a child of God and the value that comes with being called a child of the King. I firmly believe that God graciously gives parents the strong anchor…

    Assignment of Eternity

Keep in mind always that God chose YOU for THEM. God in His all knowing way…assigned them to you. He assigned them to you for you to bring them up to know Him and His love for them. No one else would do. It had to be you. God saw you as their mother way before you met them. He saw the pieces coming together to form a family. The task may seem gigantic raising these little humans who test our limits on a daily basis. But when those moments of self doubt surface…recall the truth that God assigned them to you. He knew what He was doing. He picked…

  • Candles On The Cake

So I had a birthday….As a woman it can sometimes be hard the higher the number in birthdays you climb. It’s like weight…you sort of would rather not see the number on the scale or…on the cake. But actually when you think about it, replace the words “as a woman” with “as a woman of God” and it sure does change the perspective…. We are a year older in Christ. We have completed another year of serving Him. We have gotten to experience God’s love for another year. We have experienced His grace yet another year. Now that number on top of the cake that we sort of cringe at…becomes…

  • Through A Different Lens

So a few weeks ago we took the girls to the pool. There are many water slides at our splash pad but one in particularly that my oldest daughter was excited to see this summer. It is the BIGGEST and TALLEST slide there. In past years she has gotten to learn and go on every other slide but THIS one was THE slide of the summer. She was ready to conquer it! AND MOMMY DIDN’T HAVE HER PHONE TO CAPTURE OR TAKE A VIDEO OF THE MOMENT!! And you know what…I was glad! Because rather than seeing the moment through my camera lenses I got to view her excitement and…

    “Take A Moment”

There is a very brief scene in the Bible that tells a great story that can be used for motherhood 101. It takes place in Luke 10:38-42 and tells the story of two sisters Martha and Mary who had opened their home to Jesus. Instead of me paraphrasing or giving cliff notes to the story, just read. It is so much better that way.  “As Jesus and his disciples were one their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by…

    His Mother Stood Nearby

We normally see pictures of the empty tomb or a sunrise and the cross on a hill. But the image that sticks out to me and literally gives me chills was the scene that happened between the hours of noon and three in the afternoon the day Jesus was crucified.  Three of the four gospels of the New Testament describe this scene.  ”From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all of the land.” Matthew 27:45 Can you imagine what that was like for the disciples, for the friends and family of Jesus, and specifically His mother Mary. My heart goes out to her and aches as I read…

    The Eye Of The Storm

When it comes to grief or disparity I do not pretend to understand God’s ways. I may not understand the storm as I struggle to stay afloat.  But what I hold onto is the fact that I know Jesus will meet me in the storm. He will meet me in the messiness of life. And that is where the eye of the storm will be. That is where the swells will be calmed and I will take a deep breath and secure my anchor.  His love will never fail me. His promises will always prevail. He is my King. Satan can not invade the Lord’s divine space. The Lord will…

    The Desert of Motherhood

It had been one of those weeks…the constant running and trying to keep up with the everyday routines had taken a toll on me. But I was more than just physically tired, I was emotionally exhausted. I plopped down on the couch after the kids were asleep, my husband came into the room and asked if everything was okay. He had noticed my heart was heavy. I began to rehash the past week and how I felt a little overwhelmed with life at the moment. He then asked “how are you doing spiritually?“ I looked over at my Bible that was sitting on the dining room table, I had not…

    Love The Lord Your God

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” Deuteronomy 6:5 Everyday pray for the Lord to renew your body, to renew your strength,  and to renew your mood. The more often you pray over not just your day but over YOU, this is when the transformation takes place. Be diligent at praying over yourself. Be constant in seeking His guidance and power over your heart and mind. You have heard that you are in control of how you react to the things that happen in your day. Well, where do you think that control comes from? It comes through…

    Faith And Car Seats

Car seats. They are a beast to assemble and quite heavy to carry with a baby in them. But they protect our child. They protect their head and their little bones in case of an unexpected impact. For the first couple of years a child rides rear facing and then they are turned around forward facing. It can be difficult for the first couple of years of rear facing because you can’t reach them as well from the front seat. But I think even more challenging is that they can’t see you as well. Yes, I know we have the mirrors and all the gadgets to keep them entertained on…

Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend

Did you know that the diamond is the hardest natural stone on the planet? I find this so fitting in that we symbolize the diamond ring for marriage which is the relationship that is designed by God to be the strongest and most unbreakable.  “Therefore what God joins together, let no one separate.” Mark 10:9  Again..fitting right?  But what about friendships? Those rare ones, the ones you can probably count on the fingers of your hands of certain people who hold a special place in your life. The phrase “best friends” come to mind or “besties.” But I like to call them “soul sisters.” I call them this because quite…
